Located about 25 minutes outside of Milwaukee in the heart of Waukesha County, the City of Pewaukee – along with its sibling the Village of Pewaukee – offer the comfort and charm of a small community combined with conveniences of a medium-sized city. Pewaukee is one of the “Lake Country” communities with easy access to major arteries of travel including Interstate 94, Highway 16, and Capitol Drive. Milwaukee, Madison and other nearby cities are easily accessible from the Pewaukee area. Pewaukee is home to Waukesha County Technical College and a variety of other businesses, shops and restaurants. Pewaukee is the perfect destination for those who enjoy lake sports such as boating, sailing, swimming, and fishing on Pewaukee Lake, a 2,400 acre lake. Downtown Pewaukee is a walkable, fun, and active area, especially in the warmer months. Lakefront Park offers free beach access to visitors and fun entertainment such as the Waterfront Wednesdays concert series sponsored by Positively Pewaukee and weekly water ski shows hosted by the Pewaukee Lake Water Ski Club. Nearby restaurants and shops also add to the atmosphere of the historic downtown.
The Pewaukee Public Library is another community anchor that is home to the Harken Observatory. The library hosts a variety of programs for children and adults and offers thousands of books, DVDs, CDs and electronic resources as well as access to materials throughout the Bridges (Waukesha and Jefferson County) Library System.
Pewaukee offers a variety of parks and access to the 15.2 mile Lake Country Recreation Trail that runs from Waukesha to Oconomowoc. The trail is wheelchair accessible and is a popular destination for cyclists, runners and inline skaters.
Pewaukee is also a popular destination for golfers with three nearby courses including the Pewaukee Golf Club, Western Lakes Golf Club and the Naga-Waukee War Memorial Golf Course.
The Ingleside Hotel and Water Park is another community favorite known for its family-friendly indoor water park and its annual Country Christmas event. The hotel is also a favorite local venue for meetings, weddings and other events.

Pewaukee Schools
The Pewaukee Public School District enrolls almost 3,000 students and includes one high school, one middle school and two elementary schools. Pewaukee also is home to a variety of private school options and Waukesha County Technical College. Some City of Pewaukee neighborhoods, primarily on the south side of Pewaukee, feed into the elementary schools, grade schools, and high schools of the Waukesha School District. Wisconsin’s Open Enrollment program does allow for students outside of the Pewaukee Public School District to open enroll in Pewaukee Public schools.
