Brookfield is located in the southeastern portion of Waukesha County and home to 39,800 residents in an area of 27 square acres consisting of industrial, commercial and residential development. Single family homes comprise 81.9% of Brookfield with 9.1% consisting of apartments, condos and senior living developments. It is located ten miles west of downtown Milwaukee and is the third largest county in Wisconsin.
Education
The Elmbrook School District has approximately 7,600 students enrolled from the City of Brookfield and Elm Grove in addition to portion of the Town of Brookfield and the City of New Berlin. The City of Brookfield has 25 park sites covering 1,800 acres with many including sports fields, swimming pools and lakes, open spaces, picnic and shelter rental facilities.
Cultural/Entertainment
The Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts is a non-profit cultural arts facility recognized for its performing arts, art education and visual arts programs. Situated on 400 acres the building incudes a state-of-the-art theater where nationally known and local artists perform, educational classrooms and small theater. In addition, it hosts many outdoor events and the property includes many trails, a dog park, outdoor shelter and picnic areas.
